Mermaids {series #2} is a 31 day collection of graphite on paper sketches from MerMay 2021. All work is an original exploration of the concept of the mermaid, as interpreted by me - Mairin-Taj Caya - with emphasis on the personification of the wild ocean, it's beauty, strength, diversity, and natural imperative for the overall prosperity of all life on Earth.
Continued from 2020's Series ONE, Series TWO pages feature all new figurative gesture in elemental atmosphere, celebrating a unique aspect of feminine form, expression, and relationship with the deep wilderness. Enjoy playful, introspective, and sensual concepts above and below the water's surface!
This digital version comes from my personal sketchbook, available for PRE_ORDER during the month of May, premiering a second, more fully rendered season of work, scanned at high-resolution, carefully tidied and organized into an accessible PDF booklet. It's an example of my conceptual and figure study draftsmanship, as well as a contemporary ode to the ocean, for both artists and art-lovers!
