Mermaids Sketchbook returns for a third iteration {series #3}!

It is a 31 day collection of graphite on paper maids from MerMay 2022. All work is an original exploration of the concept of the mermaid, as interpreted by me - Mairin-Taj Caya - with emphasis on the personification of the wild ocean, it's beauty, strength, diversity, and natural imperative for the overall prosperity of Earth.

Originated from 2020's Series ONE, and continued through Series TWO, this THIRD installment's pages feature all new figurative gesture in elemental atmosphere, celebrating a unique aspect of feminine form, expression, and relationship with the deep water wilderness. Enjoy playful, introspective, and sensual concepts above and below the water's surface!

Series THREE includes fresh ideas about what secrets can be explored beneath the waves, new and loving mingling of creatures, and a subtle script hinting at the emotive power within this element.

This digital version comes from my personal sketchbook, showcasing a stepped-up exploration in this season of work, scanned at high-resolution, carefully tidied and organized into an accessible PDF booklet. It's an example of my conceptual and figure study draftsmanship, as well as a contemporary ode to our precious, exploited ocean, for the sensitive and sensual art lover.
